One of the most essential tools in your home repair toolbox will be the plier. Unlike what many people think there is not just one plier type for all jobs. You will need three basic types of pliers to cover most of your repair needs in the home including:
  • Slip-Joint
  • Needle or Long Nose
  • Lock-Joint
All of these pliers are very different and have various purposes. As one of my readers I want you to know which plier to use for what task at hand. And "at hand" these pliers will be as they are some of the most essential hand tools in your arsenal.

I also recommend you not buy your pliers in the 99 cent "Made in China" bins at the hardware or drug store. These tools are often not safe and break easily. Buy a quality tool and it will be safe, not break on you and last you many years.

So read on, stop trying to tighten nuts and bolts with those long-nose pliers and let's see what plier to use for a given job!
